It has been one week since I landed back on English soil from the paradise of Croatia. I honestly fell head over heels with Dubrovnik – the food, the activities, the beaches, the ocean, the old town, just all of it! I always seem to get hit hard with post-vacation blues thinking of falling into everyday life again. I have managed pretty well this time round thanks to what I have done below to make me feel a little less blue:
Get Back Into A Routine
In Croatia I didn’t worry about exercising and I wasn’t restrictive with my diet as I wanted to fully relax and press the reset button. It can be tempting to continue with this mindset back at home however I knew this would not give me the results I want in terms of my fitness and health. In reality we all have to get back to work and back to our commitments and routine.
So the day after we landed I threw myself back into the gym with a circuit training class which got my fire burning again. I also went through my diary and made sure future appointments and events were all scheduled to help me get back into the swing of things.
Give Yourself A Goal
Feeling a little lost when you come back? I think it’s totally normal and I felt like that too. Think about what brings happiness to your life and create a goal for yourself surrounding that however big or small. For me I have wanted to try hot yoga for a while so I have signed up for 30 days at my local studio. It is exciting to try something new and it will also create content for my blog that I am excited to share.
Relive The Holiday
This can give you a chance to be creative; whether you write up a blog post about your trip or create a scrapbook of your best photographs this gives you a concrete reminder of your time away and the memories made.
On holiday it is the perfect time to switch off and lose yourself in your new exciting surroundings. When you land back home make sure to reconnect yourself with friends and family, makes plans to meet up and tell them all about your adventures!
Plan, Plan, Plan
Plan future events and trips to look forward to. Once a holiday comes to an end you can feel a little like there is nothing coming up to be excited about; change that by booking something for the near future. It by no means needs to be an elaborate or expensive event, it is just something you know you will look forward to in the coming weeks and months.
