Trips up to London are not as often as they used to be for me, so when I do go up I like to make the most of it by exploring new places. When The Cake App contacted me asking if I wanted to review their app I jumped at the chance as I am such a foodie and it would give me the chance to try out a restaurant I otherwise may not have known existed.
The Cake App has over 100 restaurants to choose from ranging from cocktail bars, burger joints, Indian restaurants and steak houses. You are bound to find something to enjoy and they cover the whole of London in case you are looking for somewhere in a specific area. I found it incredibly hard narrowing my choice down to just one, however the menu at Porky’s BBQ looked amazing so I had to try it out. Booking is incredible simple; you choose your desired restaurant, select a date/time and how many people will be eating.
Porky’s BBQ in Camden is about a five minute walk from Camden Town underground station just outside the hustle and bustle of the markets. A fluorescent red ‘BBQ’ sign outside indicated we were in the right place. The restaurant is small and intimate with seating outside the front as well as a small garden area at the back for warmer days. The interior was a blogger dream with hanging light bulbs, mint green paint and exposed brickwork.
Once you are seated you can ‘Grab a Tab’ in the app which automatically detected I was in the restaurant. You will be given a tab number and you simply give this to the waiter which will record all of your food and drinks. Within the tab page you can add other diners which makes it incredibly easy to split the bill at the end.
I am not going to lie, it was incredibly hard to choose from the menu. It is rare for me to like everything at a restaurant due to being a bit of a picky eater, however this is the dilemma I faced at Porky’s.
What did I end up going for? I got The Mac Porky with a side of fries and my other half got the chicken burger with a mac ‘n’ cheese side. As you can see, The Mac Porky is a foodies dream! Pulled pork, bacon, mac ‘n’ cheese all in a brioche bun and they were extremely generous with the portion sizes.
Porky’s definitely held up to my expectations and I would 100% recommend giving their restaurants a go.
Absolutely stuffed to the brim and extremely satisfied we were ready to settle our bill which took a matter of seconds in the end. There is a ‘Ready to Pay’ button which leads you onto the payment options. There are three different ways to pay – you can pay the whole balance, you can split the bill with other diners added to the tab or pay for specific items which means no more confusion over how much everyone pays.
If you’re looking a super fast way to pay for meals which can conveniently carve up a bill with your friends The Cake App is definitely one to sign up to.
