The Little Book Of Mindfulness | Book Review

Mindfulness seems to be a really popular term sweeping the internet right now, but how many of us actually practice it?

The definition of mindfulness is “a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.”

I for one am trying to incorporate mindfulness into my life but I have to admit it it a long process and there is just so much going on with life it can be hard to take the time out for it. It also includes shifting your mindset which obviously takes time and practice.

This is where books like The Little Book Of Mindfulness come in really handy! Not quite pocket-size but still relatively small, this book is filled to the brim with exercises to bring peace, stress relief and mindfulness into your everyday life. You can find different categories within the book such as health, meditation, food, positive thinking, confidence and a wide range of other subjects so there are plenty of ideas to add mindfulness into every part of your live if you wish to.

The author of the book is Dr Patrizia Collard who is a psychotherapist, mindfulness teacher, stress management consultant and lecturer in psychotherapy so these are well thought-out, cognitive exercise from a professional available to you any time. The exercises vary in how they could take – from a couple of minutes to however long you take. So if you are short on time but want something to pick you up you are guaranteed to find something in this book to help you.

Each page contains coloured illustrations to match the text which I personally love. If it was just a book of text maybe I wouldn’t so interested, but the pops of colour really add something to it. 96 pages of colour and differing content is what makes this book special for me as you don’t know what is on the next page.

Would I recommend this book? 100%! Very handy for those stressful moments, when you in the clutches of anxiety or if you are simply wanting to find new ways to be mindful. I picked mine up on Amazon for just under £5 which is a bargain.
