The #BloggersBlogAwards 2017

I still can’t quite believe it but earlier this year I got an email out of the blue from Hayley congratulating me on being shortlisted for Best Fitness Blog in the #BloggersBlogAwards. I had just got back home from a hot yoga class and I literally couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had only had my blog for six months at this point and I re-read the email about twenty times before squealing to my boyfriend’s surprise. I called my mum straight away and I was shaking! Safe to say I didn’t expect it in the slightest.

The event took place at Blueberry Hill Studios in Leeds starting at 2pm which fortunately meant I could travel up on the 4 hour train journey without leaving at the crack of dawn.

This was to be my first blogger event, my first blogging award ceremony and the first time I could possibly be in with a chance of winning a blogging award so I was feeling pretty nervous to say the least. Coupled with the frantic thought of what on earth was I going to wear?!

I decided on wearing a Quiz Clothing striped jumpsuit with New Look heels, a Primark choker and a Pull & Bear denim jacket to keep me warm.

The event took place in a warehouse studio which was small and intimate which I thought was perfect for an event like this where everyone can mingle and chat. There were sweets on offer, a bar, jewellery making by Jewellery Box and glitter make up by Beth.

The awards themselves were small glass panes with a gold star – super aesthetic to have on display.

The best part of the day for me was getting to meet people in person opposed to just knowing them through social media. It is so different seeing people in the flesh, hearing their voice and getting to speak without a character limit.

I travelled up with Maria and Kristy from Kings Cross which was so nice as I got to get to know them before the event and we travelled there together so we didn’t have to walk in on our own. We also picked up Holly on the way!

I also got to speak to Bee and Emma who were lovely and both won awards – well done ladies!

I may not have won my category, but I feel so inspired to push my blog even harder and work my socks off to better my content. There is so much to blogging and marketing yourself that I need to learn and try, I feel I am going to go into 2018 with a lot more knowledge.

Did you go to the Bloggers Blog Awards? Let me know! 🙂
