Honest Activewear Reviews | My Protein

October 3, 2018

Welcome to a new series on my blog!

Have you ever seen some amazing looking activewear on Instagram and rushed over to the website to buy it? But when you receive it in the post and try it on you are disappointed by the crap quality or fit? I have done that more times than I care to admit! So here I am…hoping I can help YOU with some honest activewear reviews from brands I found on social media. So let’s get into it…

Today I am looking at the new collection from My Protein. I have bought many supplements such as protein powder and snacks from My Protein, but never their clothing, so I thought I would give it a try.

First up is this matching Shape Seamless set in black. I do love the look of this set – it is simple and sleek yet the mesh detailing on the leggings gives it something different. The crop top is true to size and I found the leggings pretty tight but I could still workout in them (I wear a medium in both.) I also found the leggings to be squat proof as they are made from a nice thick material.

Shape Seamless Leggings – £40

Shape Seamless Crop Top – £30

The next outfit consisted of an oversized hoodie and grey legging combo. I am a sucker for grey leggings and I liked the branding up one leg. However, I found these leggings to be quite small (I wear a medium) and not the usual material I like for gym leggings. They have more of a loungewear feel to them. The hoodie is oversized which is perfect for the colder months and walking to and from the gym, however, I couldn’t workout in it as it is quite baggy! (I wear a medium.)

Clothing featured:

Forever Warm Cape Hoodie – £30

The Original Leggings – £24

This last set is the Power Mesh set in mauve which has to be my favourite. The leggings are very high waisted which I love and true to size (I wear a medium.) They have mesh detailing along the outside of each leg and feature large mesh pockets which are super handy to fit a phone or keys in. I wouldn’t say these are 100% squat proof but I would still wear them in the gym. The crop top has mesh paneling on both sides down the arms and also on the back. I would say the sizing is true to size (I wear a medium.) The cropped black hoodie is one of my favourite pieces and perfect for the colder months. I could see myself working out in this as well as wearing it to and from the gym.

Clothing featured:

The Original Cropped Hoodie – £26

Power Mesh Leggings – £34

Power Mesh Crop Top – £30

All in all, I really like this collection. The Power Mesh and Shape Seamless sets are by far my favourite as they are simple yet have details such as mesh which makes them different. The Original grey leggings are not for me as I prefer lycra material to workout in. The black Shape Seamless leggings are definitely squat proof whereas the mauve Power Mesh ones aren’t, however I would still wear them as they are super comfy and flattering.

I hope these reviews have been useful, and if you have any more questions please feel free to leave a comment and I will answer them as best as I can 🙂 Stay tuned for more reviews coming soon…
